Description
This spectacular Art Deco ring features a gorgeous and intricately carved lapis lazuli scarab and enamel work in the Egyptian Revival style.
HISTORY
Groundbreaking archaeological discoveries in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt (in particular, the 1922 discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb by Howard Carter) influenced design throughout the Art Deco Period. Scarabs, pyramids, and even representations of the Sphynx itself became heavily sought after and popularized by jewelers of the time. Gold, Lapis and Turquoise were highly favored, with this ring being a classic example circa sometime in the mid to late-1920s.
