Where are you located?

New York City, baby! Our home base is Brooklyn, but our jewelry is handmade on 47th Street, in the heart of Manhattan's Diamond District.

Can I come by and check out your stuff in person?

Currently, we do not have a storefront. However, we love meeting our clients and making new friends, (particularly those who love gems as much as we do!), and are available by appointment for viewings. San Francisco babes can check out our work in-person at our beloved retailer, Metier.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We prefer Paypal as our go-to-form of payment. It's quick, extremely secure and for most people doesn't involve having to type in a bunch of annoying information. For those who don't have an account, fear not! Paypal allows you to enter your credit card or banking information directly to complete the transaction.

How long will my handmade item take to create?

Made-to-order pieces are shipped within 4-6 weeks, depending on the piece. Please note that while we do everything we can to keep lead times short, we can’t guarantee it to be faster. Unfortunately, we cannot quickly respond to individual emails about the status of your order within the 4-6 week lead time. Rest assured, we’re working on it! We are an extremely small team focused primarily on the quality and production of our work. We appreciate your patience, but if you need something in a hurry get in touch to rush production if possible and/or ship via express mail for an additional fee.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes! Gift cards are available in the shop menu and are delivered via email or snail mail, whichever you prefer. They are eligible for use towards any available item on our site. Interested in another amount? Email info@louisonfine.com and we will set up a custom listing.

I love this piece! But I can't pay in full at the moment. Do you offer layaway?

Layaway is available on select items, please inquire for more details. We require a minimum 30-50% deposit, (dependent on the price of the item), with the balance paid in full within 1-3 months.

A piece I was lusting after has been sold! Can you help find or make me something similar?

Yes! We offer custom sourcing services and are always happy to go off on the hunt in search of a particular piece on your wishlist. We also offer custom jewelry work and have had great success in the past recreating beloved "one that got away" items.

How do you ship?

For items traveling within the United States, we ship USPS Priority Mail. It's fast, tracked, and in our experience the safest, most reliable method of transport. International items, depending on their destination's export laws, are sent via USPS Priority International or Parcel Pro, an industry-standard carrier for jewelry, watches and collectibles. We do not ship uninsured packages and are not responsible beyond insurance for items lost in transit. International customers are responsible for all customs fees and duties incurred.

All in-stock items are shipped 1-3 business days after receiving cleared payment. Made-to-order pieces are shipped within 4-6 weeks, depending on the piece. Need something in a hurry? Get in touch! We are happy to rush production if possible and/or ship via express mail for an additional fee.

What about repairs? Is your jewelry guaranteed?

All Louison Fine jewelry is guaranteed for 6 months with reasonable wear. If within this time period you encounter a problem with your piece, contact us immediately and we will do our best to resolve the issue at no expense to you. We reserve the right, once we have received a piece for evaluation, to determine that a preexisting defect was not the cause of the damage. We do not cover repairs that are the result of negligent wear, but will do our best to provide repair services in an affordable manner and return your piece to you as good as new. Any outside alteration, sizing, or repair work voids our guarantee.

All Louison Rare vintage and antique pieces are sold as-is. We encourage buyers to treat these treasures appropriately considering their age and condition, and are always available to answer questions and provide information to help gauge whether a piece is appropriate for your lifestyle.

Do you provide certificates of appraisal?

We are happy to provide you with a full report attesting to the material value of a piece from the Gemological Appraisal Laboratory (GAL), an independent GIA appraiser, for an additional $100. Please contact us for details. We can also provide a receipt of purchase, describing your item on our letterhead, free of charge. We do not facilitate GIA (Gemological Institute of America) appraisals on existing pieces, because they only grade loose (unmounted) stones, which would require us to dismantle the piece in question. If you are interested in a custom piece using graded stones, get in touch. We are happy to purchase already graded stones for use or submit stones where appropriate for certification.

Do you resize rings? Adjust necklace lengths? Switch stones? Hand engrave?

All rings can be sized unless otherwise noted in their description for a flat fee of $70. We encourage buyers to have their finger sized by a local jeweler, who can help you to obtain an accurate measurement, and advise against using strings or other methods as a gauge. Customers should be aware that wide bands or stacks will require a larger size, and take that into account when making your purchase. Please note that with the exception of our made-to-order pieces, once an item has been sized, it's final sale.

If you are interested in a longer chain, making small adjustments to one of our pieces, or having something engraved, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you. As with sizing, please note that any alterations made at the customers request will render a piece final sale.

How do I care for my jewelry?

Jewelry care is dependent on age, materials and other factors, so we include a care card with some item-specific instructions with every purchase. We invite all of our customers to ask us any and all questions you may have, or contact us if you need general advice. In general, our credo is treat jewelry as you would any other valuable piece of adornment. Would you wear your new silk blouse in the pool, to the gym, or to scrub your bathtub? Probably not, so why is your ring any different? Antique and vintage pieces, particularly those with closed or foil back stones and elements under glass, should not be exposed to water or moisture under any circumstances. Tarnish and wear can usually be prevented by storing your jewelry in a soft pouch or plastic bag like the one included with purchase. We advise against commercial jewelry cleaners, which are generally too harsh for home use and could potentially damage certain stones like turquoise, pearls, coral and opals.

What about custom work?

Looking for something in particular? Have a beloved piece in need of a refresher or some TLC? Get in touch! We provide concierge services to source the perfect personal piece or gift, as well as custom jewelry work and repairs. We love to hear your ideas and collaborate.
