Known as the “Five Boroughs” subway token for the pentagram shape cut out of the center symbolizing each of the five boroughs, this shape was the 5th and last subway token ever produced, beginning in 1995 when the fare was just $1.50, and phased out in 2003 in favor of the metrocard.
