Mano Cornuto Necklace

Description

Inspired by a strand of Italian protection amulets worn since childhood, this necklace features two solid gold charms, a mano cornuto (hand) and a cornicello (horn). Used to guard against evil, the mano cornuto can be traced back to ancient India, when it was used as a gesture by Buddha to repel demons and remove obstacles like sickness and negative thoughts. The cornicello ("little horn") is believed to have the same protective qualities, with the added bonus of bring health and prosperity to the wearer. Like the figa and evil eye, these symbols continue to be used today in Italy (and around the world) to bring positive energy and luck to the wearer.

Strung on a simple 14k gold chain that adjusts from 16-18", these charms are recast in your choice of gold. A great, weighty piece that still appears delicate, perfect for every day wear.

  • Hand and horn measure approximately 17mm and 15mm long, respectively.
  • Handmade in NYC. Please allow 4-6 weeks production time, or contact us directly if you need an order by a certain date.
